Dig a little deeper…

  • In The Wild Communications, is built on years of developed values and morals. I fully believe nobody has got it 100% right and we probably never will, but the least we can do is try, right? I stand strong in my values but I also believe that because of our imperfections, we never have the right to judge others.

This is what ‘In The Wild’ is all about, creating a space for businesses, charities, people, and whoever else, to feel welcome in the environmental world no matter how much or how little you’re doing. All I care about is that you care and that you’re trying your best, whatever that looks like.

I remember the first time I learnt where meat comes from at 8 years old, I spent the next 8 years fighting my mum to go vegetarian. I then learnt about the dairy industry and the environmental impact, so I went vegan as soon as I turned 18 and fledged the nest to go to uni.
I’ve since swapped out my skincare, and makeup for cruelty free and vegan products and I try to buy second hand when I can. This sounds great but I also still buy second hand leather and I drive a diesel gussling car everywhere because buses on the Isle of Wight are pretty shocking, or go in aeroplanes when I want to go on holiday. We can’t do it all.

Now I’m bringing what I’ve spent my whole personal life working on, into the business world, to help organisations that are either already doing their part or want to do a bit more, to deliver outstanding events and digital communications.

  • Events and communications may seem like an odd choice for someone like me. I’ve studied a Masters in Wildlife Biology and Conservation, I spend most of my time outdoors, surely I should be an ecologist or a ranger? Well, they’re great options and something I’d love to tie into In The Wild, but events and comms for me are a way to inspire change.

I could plant one tree myself, or I could shout about it in every way I know how and get 100s of other people to plant a tree. Suddenly I’ve created a movement of tree planting. That’s why I do what I do.

Whatever your company’s message is, I want to shout it from the rooftops. Tell stories, inspire people, ignite action. That could be attending an incredible event, changing something in their daily lives, buying a product, signing up to a service. Social media, email newsletters, websites, we’re in an age where we can be heard more than ever before. I want to utilise that for good.

It also comes back to creating that non-judgemental space, through shouting from the rooftops, I hope to create an accessible space. Make it easier for people to access a sustainable lifestyle, target new audiences, welcome new people to the environmental movement who may otherwise not have understood it or may have been too intimidated.

  • What you’ve read about me so far is a huge part of who I am, but there’s more to me than my values. They’re like the pillars that hold up everything else.

I live and have grown up on the Isle of Wight, a lovely little island on the South Coast of England. Perhaps this is why I’ve become who I am, surrounded by wildlife and incredible stretches of coastline. I’m one of the lucky people to have an inspiring place they call home. Also perhaps, why I want to reach the people who aren’t as fortunate as me to be within such close reach of the natural world.

I always seem to find myself back here, after spending some time in Winchester for my BSc in Psychology. Followed by a couple of years in Cornwall, where I also couldn’t be tempted away from the island.

Perhaps the only place in the world that could pull me away, is the wild landscapes of the Scottish Highlands, where I visit multiple times a year. The rugged mountains, dramatic coastlines, and never-ending wildlife. How lucky I am to share my time between two of the best places in the UK.

Whilst I like to say I’m an ‘outdoorsy’ person, and that is mostly true, I am also a homebody. I head out walking, rock pooling, or taking a dip in the sea as much as I can. But I also love a day inside with a good book or movie, cooking up tasty food.

I like to think that I bring a bit of me to every project. Anyone can develop skills, I’ve spent the last three years building knowledge and experience, but not everyone can bring so much passion and care to their work.

Take a look below for some more fun facts about me.

I’ve got a distinction MSc in Wildlife Biology and Conservation.

You’ll hopefully be lucky enough to meet office dog, Herb, he’s the star of the show.

I’ve been vegan for nearly 8 years, mostly. I did cheat once for some Isle of Mull Stilton - no judgement here!

My favourite animal in the entire world is the frog, my brain if filled with endless frog facts.

I’ve bungee jumped off the largest bungee bridge in the world - so I’m not afraid of a challenge.

I’ve worked very closely with lions, tigers and bears (oh my!) Head to my case studies to find out where..
